Budding Bloom Hane - Filter
Klowra's Budding Bloom series arrived in June 2026 as a five-pedal statement: compact, affordable stompboxes running on the company's WildSeed DSP engine, each dressed in stunning hand-illustrated East Asian folk artwork. The Hane is the series' envelope filter, and it wears a magnificent green phoenix across its white enclosure — fitting for an effect that makes notes take flight. An envelope filter is the funk machine of the pedal world: it opens and closes a resonant filter in response to your picking dynamics, producing the quacking, vocal 'auto-wah' sweep heard on countless Stevie Wonder-era funk records and in Jerry Garcia's singing envelope leads. The Hane's algorithm is tuned for analog-style tracking, meaning the filter responds to the nuance of your attack the way vintage optical units did — dig in for a hard quack, play softly and the sweep relaxes to a gentle bloom. FREQ and RES controls shape where the filter lives and how aggressively it peaks, DRIVE adds grit before the filter, and RATE/ATTACK governs the response speed. A three-way LP/BP/HP switch selects low-pass warmth, band-pass quack or high-pass sizzle, dramatically widening the palette from bass-friendly funk to psychedelic sweeps. The MODE button unlocks additional behaviors, all in a mini enclosure smaller than a phone. For funk players, jam-band explorers and anyone whose board lacks that touch-responsive vowel sound, the Hane is a remarkably complete envelope filter at an entry-level price — with artwork worth framing.
